Dental Insurance Plans Accepted in Houston, TX
Insurance paperwork can feel like a second job, and most people would rather spend that time smiling than sorting through benefit letters. Knowing which plans a dental office works with before you book makes your first visit simpler from the start.
FMS Dental & Orthodontics works with a wide range of dental insurance plans, and we file claims for our patients as a courtesy. Whether you visit us for general dentistry or a larger treatment plan, our Houston team can review your benefits with you and explain what to expect before your appointment.
Dental Plans We Work With
Many patients ask about insurance before they ask about anything else, so here is our current list. Each plan has its own rules about what it covers, and we are glad to look at yours with you. Plans marked (OON) are out-of-network with our practice.
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
- Careington
- Cigna (Total PDP Plans)
- Dental Network of America (DNOA)
- Guardian
- Humana
- MetLife (PDP Plus Plans)
- Mutual of Omaha
- Principal
- Sunlife
- Aetna (OON)
- Ameritas (OON)
- Delta Dental (OON)
- United Health Care (UHC) (OON)
This list is not meant to be complete, and plans change over time. If you do not see your plan here, contact our office and we can check your coverage together.
What Out-of-Network Means for You
When a dental office is out-of-network, it means the practice does not have a contracted fee agreement with a specific insurance plan. That label does not mean your plan sits unused, and it does not change the care you receive from our team.
Many PPO plans still offer out-of-network benefits, and those benefits may work much like in-network benefits. Because every plan is different, we verify insurance as a courtesy and encourage you to contact your insurance company directly for details and clarification.
Why Dental Coverage Helps You Keep Up With Visits
Dental benefits tend to make regular checkups easier to schedule, and national data point in the same direction. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults ages 18 to 64 with dental insurance were more likely to have a dental visit than adults without it in both 2019 and 2020. In 2020, 72.0% of insured adults had a visit in the past year, compared with 45.4% of adults without dental insurance.
Regular exams and cleanings give our dentists a chance to catch problems early, when treatment may be simpler. If your plan includes preventive visits, scheduling your exams and cleanings is a simple way to put those benefits to work.
How Our Team Helps With Your Benefits
Our front office handles much of the legwork so you can focus on your care. Before treatment, we verify your insurance so you have a clearer picture of what your plan may cover, and we file claims as a courtesy, including for plans that are out-of-network with our practice.
Bring your insurance card to your visit so we have your plan information on hand, and let us know about any other coverage you use. If a line on your coverage or an explanation of benefits does not make sense, our team can help you sort through it and point you toward the right questions for your insurance company.
Getting Ready for Your Visit
A little preparation makes your first appointment smoother. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID, and let us know the name of the policyholder if the plan is not in your name. Our team can use that information to check your benefits ahead of time.
It also helps to jot down any questions about your plan before you arrive, such as how often your plan covers exams and cleanings or what applies to larger treatment. If your plan leaves a balance, we can talk with you about the financing and payment options available at our office.
Why Houston Patients Choose Our Team
Insurance is only one piece of the picture, and the care you receive matters just as much. Our dentists offer general, cosmetic, and restorative care, along with dental implants, at one practice, so you can often keep your dental care in one place.
Patients come to us for dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and dental crowns as well as routine exams and cleanings. We give honest advice, build personalized treatment plans around your smile, and use safe digital X-rays and state-of-the-art technology during your exam.
